The Console Versus PC Gaming Battle

In the world of gaming, some of us like to think that PC gamers rule the roost. Others, however, are die hard console gamers. Some walk the line and play both. So, o they have the staying power? Is one type destined to become obsolete?

First of all, in the world of console gaming, there are three main categories, these days, Xbox 360, Playstation 3 or Wii gamers. Granted, some play two types and some play all three. Personally, I am a Nintendo fiend, though.

In some ways, that competition actually works in the console gamers’ favor. Since there are three main console games, there are three very distinctive console game sets to choose from. Yet, those sets are ever changing.

For example, I loved Banjo Kazooie and Banjo Tooie on N64. Imagine my dismay when I discovered that the latest Banjo game is only out on Xbox 360! Suddenly, they aren’t Nintendo specific games anymore! So, now, if I want to play my favorite games, I have to buy a 360. Theoretically, once I do that, I will see other 360 games that I like and buy those. I’m probably not alone. That trend will probably cause a lot of you gamers out there to buy more than one system and, as a result, games for more than one system.

So, any old school console gamers are probably going to stay console gamers and, by default, their kids will probably be console gamers, since the games will be in the house. I don’t see console games ever dying. So, are computer games destined to go by the wayside, instead?

Well, I think not, just for sheer convenience. Most of us use our computers on a daily basis. If we have breaks from work or just happen to be online chatting with friends, why not play a game, especially a multiplayer online game? In fact, more and more MMORPG’s are popping up. World of Warcraft, Warhammer and the like are in no danger of dying off.

Aside from that sort of convenience, there’s also the space convenience. If you play computer games, you don’t have to contend with console game systems, lots of game controllers and accessories and tons of game discs and cases everywhere. A lot of computer games don’t even require a disc to run.

Then there’s convenience point three. If you’re already at your computer playing a game you have the world at your fingertips, as far as finding game information goes. You can easily look up game cheats, game walkthroughs, game trailers and more. Of course, if you are playing a console game, you can take time out and go over to your computer and look up the cheat codes, but it takes more time.

Ultimately, there are no winners or losers in the battle between console and PC. I am looking forward to Diablo III coming out for PC, personally, but I’m also looking forward to the day that I can replace the Wii that my ex boyfriend kept, too! There’s no reason we should choose one over the other. All games are a blast!

Nintendo System-wii the Revolution Has Begun

admin » 03 June 2009 » In Nintendo » No Comments

Nintendo System Wii The Revolution Has Begun

Though I haven’t really been a video game lover for years, and I hadn’t tried the new Nintendo System Wii I did teach myself some of the finer concepts of playing “actual” tennis, from playing David Cranes tennis on an old Nintendo Console, many years ago. I figured out the specifics of spin, and curving the balI on the “real” tennis court from playing a video game!

Though that’s really the only game I’ve ever played to any extent, I was excited when my daughter came to visit me, and brought her brand new Nintendo System Wii with her!

I now regard myself a 100% Nintendo Wii convert! As I read my first limited review on the new Nintendo System Wii, I found myself questioning the motion-reactive controls (the remote control and nunchuck) and the wand that you needed to locate in front or on top of the television set. Not only that, but reports of the Nintendo System Wii graphics seemed abominable.

Would the Nintendo System Wii be able to contend in a video game domain where, whenever you are performing NBA 2007 on a Playstation 2, you can see the perspiration droplets on Shaq’s realistic facial expression?

The Nintendo System Wii comprises a diminutive and noiseless console and fits virtually anyplace. The Playstation 3 comparitively is immense and is more difficult to hide. Sony has made some odd choices when it comes to their flagship console, and it lacks the innovation of the Nintendo System Wii, in so many ways, aesthetically as well as in function. Nintendo System Wii has it over Sony in almost every department.

In spite of my reluctance regarding the Nintendo System Wii wand/remote, there is zero awkwardness or discombobulation regarding them. The remote control and nunchuck controls are logical, and the Nintendo System Wii provides oodles of on-screen direction just in case you ever become befuddled. The Playstation 3 on the other hand provides no equal controller or progressive simplicity of use.

Nintendo System Wii should be commended for bringing out a $300 game console that does not forget a whole generation of users behind. The Nintendo System Wii arrives set up to play all GameCube games and includes concealed ports for GameCube controls. Although Sony didn’t make the mistake of backwards compatability, this is one of the issues with Xbox, many of the newer games don’t play properly on Xbox 360.

The Nintendo System Wii is sinking in to our culture in many ways, apart from the ease of use of the Nintendo System Wii, there are so many other great facets to it. The fact that there is the potential to burn calories and work up a sweat, is a revolution in itself. There are companies out there now devising Public Rooms you will be able to rent for parties, that are set up for the ultimate Nintendo System Wii experience. I’ve also seen reports of Fitness Centers putting Nintendo System Wii systems in for their clients to use as a warmup before their workout.

All in all the Nintendo System Wii is set to revolutionize society as no game console has done before.

How to Maximize the Usage of Playstation 3 Console

admin » 21 April 2009 » In TV Game » No Comments

Playstation 3 console is the latest generation of playstation series that launched by Sony Entertainment. You know, playstation 3 has been changed a lot compare to playstation 1 and playstation 2. It is integrated with build in hard disk that allow you to save the game data, music files, photo files into the harddisk.

It is also the only game console that able to act as Bluray disc player in the market now. What is a Bluray Disc player? It is similar to the DVD players that most of us know, just that it use to run Bluray disc.

A piece of bluray disc can save data up to 54 Gigs whereby normal double layer DVD disc can only save data up to 9 Gigs.

In shorts, by having more storage space in the Bluray disc, it can carry 6 times more data than the DVD we use now; which able to contribute high definition effects to the TV pictures that shown on the screen.

You can use the playstation 3 console to watch HD movies if you want to :)

Before that, you need to have a set of HDTV (either plasma TV or LCD flat screen TV will do, just that LCD is better for your health since it do not spread any radiation effects )and HDMI Cable ( High Definition Multimedia Interface ) to connect from your playstation 3 to your High Definition TV in order to have these HD effects.

Let me explain in a bit more here :-

HD means “high definition”. You know, our TV screen picture is build up by lot of small pixels just like our PC screen. If the TV screen picture is build up by more pixels, the picture will become more clear and sharp; and more pixels will required more storage space that pictures produce by Bluray Disc will be much higher quality compare to DVD disc, because it has more storage space to carry more pixels.

HDTV able to shown all the small pixels in the TV screen and you need HDMI cable to transmit large volume of pixels from your playstation 3 to your HDTV to give you HD effects. Are you getting more clear now?

You might also want to increase your movie or gaming experience by attached a home theater system to your HDTV to enhance the audio effects which can up to 7.1 channels.

You shall buy Pioneer brands seem they are so popular in the market for the high quality sound that they are able to produce.

Which model you shall buy? Of course, higher price contribute higher sound quality. You just need to justify between quality and budget by yourself :)

Beside Bluray disc player, you can use some model of the playstation 3 to play majority of the playstation 1 and playstation 2 games.

Why I say some model? There are 4 models of playstation 3 which can commonly get in the market :-

1. 20GB Console – have the least harddisk space and unable to connect your playstation 3 to internet.

However, it is integrate with Emotion Engine that allow you to play majority of the playstation 1 and playstation 2 games.

2. 40GB Console & 80 GB Console – can allow your playstation 3 online but unable to play majority of the playstation 1 and playstation 2 games

3. 60 GB console that allow you to play majority of the PS1 and PS2 games and ven online games.

It is better to get 60GB console if this is your first playstation console since there are also quite a few of nice PS1 and PS2 games that worth to play.

Besides, it allow you to play online playstation games. In fact, the major selling point of playstation 3 games are online games that allow you to battle with other hardcore gamers from worldwide.

You will not getting bored with a single game since your opponent have turn into smart humans; and game developers are happy as well since they just need to maintain their game server and no need to worry the pirated copy of the PS3 games to exist.

Why? If you buy the pirated copy, you are unable to play the online game :)

You can even download the trial version of playstation 3 games and play for free before buying the game. If you not happy with it, just delete it and look into next game :)

You can get more info about playstation 3 tips from Playstation 3 Tips Section

Playstation 3: the Blu-ray Player

admin » 15 April 2009 » In TV Game » No Comments

All around, the Sony Playstation 3 is a complete home entertainment system for your entire household. With the system, you will be able to play Playstation, Playstation 2, and of course Playstation 3 games. Besides being able to play games that date back generations, to games that are the most technologically advance with 1080p high-definition, the Playstation 3 serves another function and another purpose. A purpose that’s worth its weight in gold.

The Sony Playstation 3 is a Blu-ray Player!

But how does the Playstation 3 compare to a standard Blu-ray Player?

The Playstation 3, compared to a stand alone Blu-ray player, has one massive advantage. Price! A standard Blu-ray player can cost anywhere around $850 dollars to a whopping $1,300 dollars. It is obvious that the average person won’t be able to afford such a steep price. Here is one reason why the Playstation 3 comes into its own. Priced at $499 dollars to $599 dollars, the Playstation 3 is by far the cheapest and most affordable Blu-ray player to date. Allowing a boarder audience to enjoy high-definition Blu-ray movies from the comfort of their homes.

What about quality, functionality and is the Playstation 3 easy to use as a Blu-ray Player?

With some of the more state of the art technologies, the Playstation 3 could be considered better than all the Blu-ray players on the market today. From the moment you turn it on and insert a Blu-ray movie via the front loading disc drive, you will be blown away and surprised at the picture quality this little box provides. On average the Playstation 3 turns on and loads up a Blu-ray movie in about 22 seconds, which is highly impressive. Using the wireless gaming control or the soon to be released Playstation 3 remote controller, navigating throughout the Blu-ray movies enjoyable and easy to learn.

Playstation 3: The Blu-ray Player

Sony has made a wise decision to integrate Blu-ray into their system. The Playstation 3 is hundreds of dollars cheaper even if you decide to purchase Sony Playstation 3 remote also, which is estimated to cost around $30 dollars. Even before the release of the Playstation 3, Blu-ray movie sales continued to increase as time goes on. Playstation 3 is the total package, so go out and get one.

Profitable Review For Xbox 360 -Vs- PlayStation 3 Today

admin » 11 April 2009 » In TV Game » No Comments

The PlayStation or the Xbox: which will win? It is one of the greatest rivalries of the gaming world, and the latest round – Playstation 3 vs. Xbox 360 – will soon be upon us. The PlayStation 3 will start launching this November nationally at US territories and some other countries, some months after the Xbox. The advantage on that front goes to the Xbox.

But the PlayStation 3 has a lot going for it, and the buzz it has been building up is outstanding. Sony is already shipping hundreds of thousands of units – an initial release of 400,000, with more than twice that number by the end of the year. It is very likely that all of these will sell out, as everybody scrambles to see what they can do with the PlayStation 3. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 has a head start of almost a year, and has built up an impressive line of games.

The advantage on games does not go entirely to the Xbox, though. Sony already has a stunning line-up of PlayStation 3 games – at least 27 of them are in the works, and many of these will be available from the launch date. Games for the PlayStation 3 include Need for Speed: Carbon, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ridge Racer 7, and Fatal Inertia. Even before its release, the PlayStation 3 triumphed at the Tokyo Game Show, as several PlayStation 3 games were given awards. In addition, the PlayStation 3 will be able to run all games built for the PlayStation 2.

The PlayStation 3 has another trick up its sleeve – what is being described as user created content. That is, the PlayStation 3 promises to bring some gamers out of their passivity, and empower them to add new features to the coming console. This should appeal to PC Gamers, who are used to the joys of mudding, and creating new levels and environments for games. Sony hopes that they will transfer their talents and enthusiasm to the PlayStation 3. Microsoft typically takes a much less enthusiastic view of user-created content, and the Xbox has very limited capacity in that regard- at least in our many of our reviews.

The Xbox and the PlayStation 3 both have online services, but these are quite different in style. With the Xbox, everything is tied closely into the Microsoft empire through the medium of Xbox Live. Sony has taken a more hands-off approach, and it seems there will be the option for gamers to choose one of several online services. It will be possible to play tournaments online through the PlayStation 3.

Who will win this battle? In the short term, the PlayStation 3 will likely win the Christmas sales battle – provided Sony can ship enough units to keep up with demand. But that is simply because they are the new kid on the block. In the longer term, expect sales of the two consoles to be fairly similar – and impressively high in both cases, perhaps between 20 million and 30 million each over the next few years. And whoever claims triumph in the console battle, the gamers will win, being able to play the two most advanced consoles ever created. In the battle of the Xbox vs. the PlayStation 3, we all win.
